 What we do

Boardroom Consulting is a new kind of strategy business.

We help leaders of organisations, brands and places to create and deliver major change, by unlocking transformational thinking and galvanising support from all stakeholders and audiences.

Operating at the intersection of brand, audience and organisational strategy, we help to define the fundamentals of organisational identity, so that organisations and brands become - and remain - real, relevant and relatable; for those that matter most.

Our combination of analysis, creativity and collaboration has helped leaders to create greater relevance, resonance and traction with stakeholders, audiences and partners - through strategies built on greater clarity of definition and shared sense of purpose.

We help to answer fundamental questions:

Who are we?

Create and articulate a shared sense of purpose and collective goal, to build commitment and to define the beating heart of future strategy.

What are we here for?

Answer this fundamental question to create a galvanising idea that helps embed values and change at the heart of culture and of stakeholder relationships. Engage and involve your stakeholders in  finding that answer and you will build the greatest loyalty, support and advocacy.

Why does that matter?

How can you both make use of and communicate your unique role and purpose in ways that are ever more inclusive and resonant, continually driving ever stronger relationships?

Who we are

Claire Rigby

Over the last 20 years I have worked for a variety of the UK’s leading creative agencies in London and Manchester; defining, developing and delivering brand and marketing strategies for national and international clients.

My expertise is in bringing clarity of thought and a greater sense of collective purpose to organisations dealing with change; creating structure, helping organise thinking and developing clear and evidence-based narratives, with a focus on brand strategy, architecture and brand frameworks, market positioning, marketing strategy.

Key sector experience includes Education, Life Sciences, Culture, Place and Leisure and Tourism.

I was previously Strategy Partner at independent creative agency True North and Marketing Strategy lead, BBC North. I have also been a Governor of Manchester Metropolitan University and was Chair of the Marketing and Recruitment Advisory Committee.

My ‘spare time’ is filled by two children, two dogs, occasional running and a mild obsession with Zumba.

From 2001 until my exit in 2016 I was Managing Partner of True North, which I built from start-up to a 25-strong brand consultancy recognised nationally for creating innovative, distinctive brands for global clients. The agency won over 200 awards for creativity and effectiveness during that time, and I led multiple strategic projects with clients such as British Council, Royal Mail, LEGO Education, Durham University and National Portrait Gallery, creating new approaches to proposition and positioning development.

Formerly a director of the Design Business Association and also of the Manchester Literature Festival, I am vice-chair of the People's History Museum and and was a co-founder of Discuss, a series of events created to 'stimulate Manchester's intellectual curiosity'.

I try to find the time to satisfy my addiction to Manchester City, for watching most other sports, especially cricket, for cycling slowly up hills and for running around after my two dogs. I am also a voluntary youth mentor with One Million Mentors.
